This kitchen refresh in Lake Vista was perfectly timed as our client considers retirement in her near future! Her original oak cabinets were in excellent condition, but the 1990’s finish had ambered over time leaving the room with that honey oak vibe. We considered the low natural light and after swatching several options we decided to strip, sand and re-clear coat her cabinets to keep them as light as possible (without painting them). A larger island was added in one of her favorite colors to provide contrast with the oak and to tie into her home’s color story. We incorporated timeless living finishes like unlacquered brass cabinet hardware & copper mixed with leathered granite and a polished subway tile ceramic backsplash to help bounce light around. Under cabinet lighting was added as well as more thoughtfully placed flush mount lights so that she can see all of her beautiful new additions.
